Open letter to Oporto management

March 2021

Ms Helen Moore

Oporto CEO

Dear Ms Moore,

Oporto Supply Chain

I am writing to you today to raise awareness of issues in the Oporto supply chain.

As you may be aware, workers at McCormick’s production plant who produce a number of Oporto sauces have been taking protected industrial action since 25 February 2021.

Workers feel they have no option but to take indefinite action.

They have not received a pay increase in 5 years, despite working throughout the pandemic to ensure food supply and safety was maintained.

This dispute may affect McCormick’s ability to produce Oporto sauces.

United Workers Union also holds concerns regarding McCormick’s sanitation practices, given its ordinary sanitation crew is not working and included in the protected action.

United Workers Union asks that you intervene and involve more senior levels of management in negotiations.

Further, United Workers asks that Oporto strongly urges McCormick to resolve this dispute and respect their workers.

Yours Sincerely
