For sacking mums – Tip Top’s the one!
Tip Top like to market themselves as the bread for Aussie mums. But when it comes to looking after working mums at their own bakeries, it’s a different story.
A young female worker who is trying to start a family at Tip Top’s Charmhaven (NSW) bakery has been put on a fixed-term contract, while all her male counterparts have been given full-time positions.
She has worked at this site for more than three years. There’s no reason for Tip Top not to give her a permanent job. Because she was not offered permanent work, she misses out on entitlements she would have received such as Maternity Leave.
When her coworkers spoke out and signed a petition to support her fight for a full-time job, they were disciplined – including one supervisor who was put on a performance improvement plan explicitly for signing the petition.
We won’t stand by and allow bosses to discriminate against workers because of their gender or family responsibilities.
Sign the petition and tell the Tip Top bosses: do the right thing by working mums!
